In the morning, the man came back wandering in the town in astonishment , full of surprise , he gazed steadily at people and things , at once three men , hiding their faces, they were tall , big , wearing strange clothes caught him , arrested him , a few minutes he found himself in a police station , his accusation was having no tail , he had cut his tail, pushed him in dark room , seeing no one there, but there was a photo on the wall facing the narrow iron door which was opened twice a day , through the light that came from outside he could see the details of the photo , it was for a big donkey, and what distinguished it was his long tail .

فى الصباح عاد الرجل يتجول فى المدينة متعجبا ، تملؤه الدهشة ،أخذ يقلب النظر فى الناس والأشياء ، وإذا بثلاثة رجال ملثمين طوال ضخام الجثة ، يرتدون ملابس غريبة الشكل يمسكون به ويقبضون عليه , وبعد دقائق وجد نفسه في المغفر , وقد وجهت إليه تهمة بتر الذيل , وعلى الفور اقتادوه إلى غرفة مظلمة , لم ير فيها أحدا , ولكن كانت هناك صورة معلقة فوق الحائط في مقابل الباب الحديدي الضيق الذي كان يفتح مرتين في اليوم , ففي كل مرة كان يرى شيئا من تفاصيل هذه الصورة عبر الضوء الداخل , لقد كانت صورة لحمار ضخم , وكان أبرز ما فيه هذا الذيل الطويل .
